Hundreds of university students and young adults from around the world have taken part in a conservation volunteer program with Kuaka New Zealand - combining education, travel, conservation and community volunteer work into one incredible 2-week experience.
Your work will make a big difference to several community initiatives, and you will have important interactions with Maori, the indigenous people of New Zealand. Your volunteer work is a way of giving something back to the country you will be visiting, and makes you more than just a tourist - you become connected to this country through the work you leave behind.
At Kuaka New Zealand you will get to experience the different ecosystems within a whole catchment/watershed, and will work on many different types of projects.
“I have learned that when a group of dedicated and motivated people come together, nothing is unachievable.” -- Crystal Delveese, Roanoke, VA
Your work and education in this first two weeks can form a Year 3 University-level Geography credit if you choose.
Kuaka NZ is committed to responsible tourism and encourages all participants to travel with respect in the host countries. Every Kuaka tour or program is environmentally sustainable.
You can read two recent newsletters from TECT Park, one of our major partnerships, in the PDF files linked below. The articles and photos show how a committed group of volunteers can make a real difference!
